I've given up posting at the other blog. shall just post here instead... here goes...

MediShield vs IncomeShield

It is always a personal choice whether a person wants to be insured up to Class A and Private hospitals or are content with Class C wards.

Always know what you're paying for. NTUC's Enhanced IncomeShield is one of the cheaper options for 'As Charged' plans. You may want to visit CPF to find out more about Medishield event limits. Assist Rider may be unnecessary as he/she may self-insure that portion.

Plan A and B have higher deductible for B1 and A/Private. They have the same deductible as Medishield when you compare B2 wards and below. The catch here is not so much about deductible which is 1 or 2k difference, but proration factor which Medishield will throw you back 2/3 of the bill if you stay A/Private and half the bill if you stay in B1. Even B2 is prorated. It's really meant to cover adequately BMT bunk style Class C wards. Hence the ridiculously cheap premiums. One cent money, one cent goods.

Plan A, B have 10% co-pay across the claimable amounts. Basic Medishield is tiered at 20-15-10%.

Initially I had thought this blog and it's offspring is a cause worthy of my time. After following them for some time, I think my values do not coincide with the man's. while f!sca is a good platform for ideas to be exchanged, the ideas are not healthy ideas.

he borders on marxism and his thinking is very socialist in nature. regulating the financial markets and reigning in the free market are his usual taglines.

one can feel that he is politically left. they always say the youngsters will vote the opposition in. As I grow older everyday, i began to see things more clearly and why things are carried out in certain way. and why socialism will not work.

I read this on some blog.

"That's why I have no insurance. My friend got breast cancer and did not claim a single cent."

Paraphrased of course.

This is so disheartening. Everytime I read of such encounters, I feel an urge to educate some people. This person probably bought critical illness protection, thinking it will cover him/her for cancer. I'm very sure they don't know that critical illness is only claimed for Stage 3 cancer, or more specifically, when the cancers cells start to spread. Breast cancer is most likely in situ and will not qualify for critical illness.

haiz...

Financial planning should be incorporated in our education system. People from JC and Polytechnic onwards should have compulsory modules on financial products and money in general.

Found a link on Mr Tan Kin Lian's blog on Swiss healthcare system. A link to the news report here.

This is a perfect example of the free market at work. Most civil servants will be scratching their head wondering how could such a system work without government aid. The fact is that public healthcare system will not work WITH government intervention. Prices will spiral out of control with government subsidies and grants as medical professionals pocket taxpayers' money and over-prescribe drugs and operations.
