The Heartlander
although it's going to be 2am i'll squeeze an entry here cos today is too interesting to be left out.

reached work fairly early today. before 9. so went in the basement. do until 10am, tio firedrill. in real fire, i'll just run out. but it's a drill, so as a bochup contractor, i took my time in locking up the racks and packing my bag before going off.

dsta people had to go "fall in" outside along depot road or something. so i went to the canteen to stone. read newspaper for an hour... then back to the basement.

miscommunication. forgot who held the key. I was quite sure I handed the keys back to dsta. so kanchiong for nothing in the end... it was kept by them.

do do do do. 3.30pm liao. pack up. chiong back to bedok scs. while waiting for 195 at dtt, many people kaopeh the bus. i was waiting since 1555, and the blasted bus only appeared at 1640... 2 of them some more. I thought one of the drivers must have fallen asleep at the interchange and forgot his shift or something. the 2 bus 195 were pretty reckless, chionging around corners and honking along the way. seemed like what I had thought might be true.

in any case, I reached scs bloody late because of this. did a quick exchange of documents then chionged to Ubi. can't really chiong liao cos stuck in rush hour.

got lost in ubi. went up the wrong industrial building and found everything so unfamiliar hahahaha. i think it's my 4th time going back to ubi office but my first time going there on my own. hopelessly lost sia. digged around for abt 20mins then found the right building but forgot which storey haha. so start from 2nd floor go up one by one. lucky it was just on the 3rd :P

and guess what? I took my first full-time paycheck! muahahaha. all that's left now is to check my cpf to make sure they never cheat my money bwahaha.

ok it's 2am+ sleep time.

another jap - chinese oxymoron.

可憐
Jap - Cute, sweet, lovely
Chinese - Pathetic, pitiful

well, it can mean pitiful in jap too but more often it is used in the sweetcutelovely context.

and my hair is getting so long i'll need a hair band soon.

rumours are flying around.

I may get retrenched.

I'm going to sink into depression. I barely got my job and I'm going to be fired because of some acquisition. Think of all the people depending on my income. er... myself and...

Anyway, I better start looking around for another job in case it really happens. Fantastic turn of events. This has been going around for some time but it is only today that I heard some sort of confirmation from 2 independent sources, somehow coincidentally together at the same time.

March may be my deadline. Unless the higher-ups iron out the shit between them.

Or maybe I'll be kept and contracted over to NCS instead :)

Is it true that when people get retrenched they get some compensation? ^^ Or does that not apply to contract staff? The company side break the contract right? XD

this year is going to be a busy year. all the 1988s are going to turn 21 and there's going to be a hell lot of parties going on.

I just missed a friend's party cos I forgot he's celebrating early. :( 9th jan my big bro also 21st birthday but lucky he in ocs haha. nah, I know he doesn't need anything other than a bday sms from me. right jz? :P

and there's another guy who's going to have his birthday at pines country club grand ballroom. i really wanted to siam that one but he came and ask me personally on msn why i indicated "maybe attending" on facebook. bleh... boh bian, must go liao. going to have to pool gift haha. me is cheapskate.

haiz... all the lucky bastards. I never had a birthday party and more often than not, my family forgets my birthday too haha. hm... actually there isn't a tradition of birthday celebration in my family. it's just another day. a day when you officially have one year less to live. I see it as that way. Nothing much to be joyful about actually.

and what's with being 21? I'll probably be treated the same as 24hrs ago, be given the same responsibilities, be given the same freedom and be given the same independence, which is a rather lack of. so not much diff there. Like my 18th bday, I hope I can "celebrate" my 21st at the jurong driving centre. It's only meaningful that way.

this brings up my 19th bday. I was still in SISPEC then. my face was covered in camo paint and I woke up on my birthday in some basha in the middle of some old choa chu kang road forest. the only redeeming point is that no one knew it was my birthday so I was spared of any teasing and torturing. heng...

my 20th not so bad. I think my family rememebered it was my birthday on the next weekend or something. Can't remember... nothing much happened.

so 21st is going to be at jurong driving centre. I can feel it. it's actually not called jurong but Pan Country Driving Centre.

Pan Country Driving Centre

In totally unrelated news, Nagi in ep35 is just too freaking cute!!! I'm going to post some pictures and stare at them myself. bahaha.

Startutor is starting to piss me off. Initially I thought I'm not getting assignments because I'm not expressing enough interest. Ok, so I go whack a few more. maybe it's because those that I expressed interest are already too popular so I go whack some relatively new ones and. still no. So I went to pick one that is posted like 2 hours ago and no one has expressed interest yet. So I went to indicate interest, effectively I'm the first guy.

STILL NO?!? and today I checked, 2 have accepted assignments??? wtf... my phone number is correct, my rating is high, I'm doing everything right but still wth...

come on man, I just need one or two and I'll bugger off your website. bah...

just watched toradora 14 raw. this time really can't understand shit. so many dialogues, so little action.

spoiler alert!

kawashima actually blushed. takasu was thanking her for something. he gave her two packs of beef, kawashima say i can't cook, then takasu say something about smiling face, then something about being happy in the morning, then she blushed... ok i probably missed out a whole chunk but it was interesting that kawashima was serious for once, instead of constantly teasing takasu. then takasu said something like kawashima's like a child or something... referring to an earlier dialogue in the morning when kawashima said something about takasu being like a child for buying orange juice from the vending machine when takasu actually bought it for aisaka.

bah, incoherence. subtitles subtitles!

somehow i have this feeling kitamura confessed to kano (the council president) and got rejected or some negative response. he was sulking beside the canal later when aisaka found him.

ok, i'llj ust wait for subtitles.

and my hair getting damn long. i feel rebellious and don't want to cut it even for chinese new year.

yay school has started. less annoying little kids on TF2...

was I like them?? wait... I wan't fortunate enough to be playing online games in primary school... only started when I was sec 2 or 3... guess I was ok then.

hah, so that gives me all the right to curse and swear at them. pesky little rats with squeaky voices on the mic... my father thought they were girls. lucky bastards, I don't even have a mic :/

It's hard to put the frustration I felt into words when playing with these brats. They are easily excited over tiny things and they are very vocal about it, literally. The microphone seems like an extension of their voicebox and they have to announce every single thing they see. "eh eh, they got enemy" "medic heal me heal me!" "eh run run run" "wah uber come already" "why you never heal me?" "got bomb". Heck, I even heard one of them activate his mic just to clear his throat. wtf? Why do you have to press Alt (the "speak" key) and clear your throat???

peaceful days once again.

And I'm still having problems looking for tuition assignments.

in totally unrelated news, Israeli ground forces are moving in Gaza. Some wikipedia-ing reveals that the Gaza Strip is really a strip about 6km wide haha. we can basically walk from the Israel border right to the coast and back in probably less than 2 hours.

The party that I sympathize the most with is the Egyptians. They are caught right in the middle and everyone lashes at Egypt for doing nothing. I hope President Mubarak was honest when he said Egypt had warned Hamas not the break the truce.

And how stupid can Hamas be? fire rockets on christmas eve on israel? wtf??? not to mention that they fire rockets and mortars even during the cease-fire period but Israel just tolerated. Personally, I don't think Israel is wrong in carrying out their operations. When it comes to human lives, I believe in 2 eyes for an eye. Imagine Country X dropped a mortar on an MRT station during peak hour just because we refused to buy water at a higher price or something. I might not be one of the first to volunteer to sign on the military but I would be fully behind a full-scale kick-in-the-arse for Country X.

Hamas should know its position. It's a puny strip without an economy and 0 military weapons, relative to Israel's. Aggressor? I think Israel must have felt more insulted than anything else. Hamas' attacks on Israel are terrorist in nature - they do not target specific military installations, they are happy if the rockets do kill anyone at all. To counter such foolish terrorist ambitions, we need a major holocaust on the Hamas militants.

The Gazans should be blaming their own government for their civilian casualties, for not renewing the truce.

Remember, 2 eyes for an eye. It's the only way deterrence works.

end of another weekend. worse is no more 3 day work weeks like the last 2.

Finished revising through the yellow japanese book that I used in sec1/2. Sometimes I wonder how I managed to still squeeze an A2 at the end of sec2 for jap hah. the orange book, more advanced but still basic, is much more interesting cos it contains more chim grammar.

somehow since I'm on this topic, might as well say this. I really dislike people throwing in japanese phrases mixed with english/mandarin/anything. i don't know why. my skin cringes and my blood boils. the expression is either all japanese or all singlish. casual lines like "veryかわいいleh" and more recently I heard "painです" causes fits of fury to tremble through my body. it sounds unbelievably retarded and sometimes I feel compelled to correct them. but most of the time I'll just swallow it and go on.

I have no idea why I feel this way.

and I hate to read romanji. even worse, people who write "japanese" in romanji. many times I'll chance upon some forum with some people given an introduction in romanji.

ok enough rant.

papa was back so he fetched me to RI to play badminton. it's been such a long time since my father fetch me to bishan... 2+ years? it was even more nostalgic to take bus 88 back after the badminton session. I think I saw jonathan foo but I wasn't sure so didn't really say HI!!! still the same route, the same places, the same sian feeling of having to wait 45mins before reaching home. Took 88 for 4 years and 74 for 2 years. the bus trip brought back memories.

Yeh, Hecate sounded like she was really getting high when she was "synchronizing" with the yuuji's mango... or reiji maigo.

she sounded more like Tifa from Zero no Tsukaima in Nogizaka. As Tsukamoto Yakumo, she was the shy-girl type. You should go watch School Rumble. She's super sweet. :)

anyway...

chanced upon some ASCII art. actually technically they're not ASCII art anymore... more like UNICODE art haha.
